I spoke to some friends recently about topics for discussion in group settings, and was not shocked to hear hesitance to bring up potentially controversial ideas once a conversation grew past the first two or three people. This is something of a disappointing theme I've experienced in some groups, where potentially controversial topics aren't discussed, or are given something of a hand wave treatment.

When were we bitten such that we can't be vulnerable with each other? What happened that we need dedicated safe spaces to speak what's in our hearts? I'm not an exception to purposefully speaking vaguely, but can't we try to allow for more exploration of difficult topics without immediately judging each other?

I hope this website proves a place I can be somewhat vulnerable, and I hope you'll take my words as explorations of a thought, rather than hard-line policy proposals.

Thanks for your understanding,

-Nicholas
